Project: Outdoor oasis, kitchen.
Goal: Create outdoor living, inside.
Name: Hummer Residence
Project Complete: Summer 2014
Designer: Peter Tart

The great outdoors is now indoors.

Chris and Jodi Hummer wanted to create a one-of-a-kind backyard oasis unlike anything we've seen, and we were up for the challenge. Little did we know just how 'one-of-a-kind' this project would be.

Jodi had a vision of an indoor space that would flow effortlessly from her kitchen countertop into the backyard of her dreams, complete with a swimming pool, an outdoor shower and a grassy respite from the sun and heat. Jodi and Chris also wanted to update their kitchen to incorporate more entertaining space and to update the appearance of the family gathering space.

A renovation centered around a 20' glass NanaWall that would break the barrier between the interior and exterior space. With the entire rear wall of the house removed, we began the process of creating a transition between indoors and outdoors by crafting a patio area that seamlessly bridged the distance between the pool, the patio and the kitchen.

The pool was the centerpiece of the outdoor renovation and we mirrored the materials indoors by using a stunning concrete countertop highlighted with a spalted maple eating area. To finish off the renovation, we added a new bathroom and guest suite for visitors.

We think Jodi and Chris had an incredible vision for this renovation and we were thrilled to help bring it to life.
