Project: Kitchen Remodel
Goal: Open up the kitchen
Name: Macon Residence

Architect: Meyer, Greeson, Paullin, Benson

From inefficient to spectacular

The hurdles to jump with this inefficient kitchen were satisfying the clients' needs while keeping within budget, and working around an inconvenient "step" in the exterior wall. The initial must-have list screamed for an enlarged footprint, but the clients' budget would not allow it. Our solution was to remove the original range wall to free up additional space and create a design with a large island set as the primary work area, serving both sides of the kitchen. It was strategically placed backing into the seating area to avoid the pinch point from the exterior wall step. Several floor-to-ceiling cabinets were installed, creating the much needed storage.
