Project: New Kitchen, Primary Bath & Mudroom Addition
Goal: Build a functional kitchen space.
Name: McBryde Residence
Architect: Don Duffy
Designer: Susan Dudley

Turning dysfunctional into functional.

The McBryde family is a previous customer of Hopedale Builders and we were more than thrilled to help them with this exciting new renovation. Their goals were simple: Turn a dysfunctional kitchen into a gorgeous ballet of space, relocate the laundry room out of the kitchen and add a mudroom for good measure.

We started by reconfiguring the old kitchen layout and in order to add more useable space we removed a support post that was smack dab in the middle of the room. Seriously what were they thinking? To support the load of the second floor, we installed an industrial steel I-beam and with nothing in our way we concentrated on upgrading the cabinets, appliances and awesomeness.

As we continued the renovation, it was clear that the old rubble foundation needed to be replaced. We excavated the site and while the back half of the house was supported by heavy timber and hydraulic jacks, we poured a solid, stable foundation that will hold the house in place for years to come.

The master bath received a makeover while we were there and the light and airy space with white granite and cabinets has become an oasis for mom and dad.

When we finished the project, the McBryde family had a new kitchen, master bath, mudroom and a solid foundation to hold it all in place. That's a winning combination in our book.
